AileneA - sorry, but you are missing the point. All of you Intuit employees are missing the point. This has been a problem for more than four years. If the engineers are actually working on a fix, that would be good news, but I've been hearing that for a very long time.
Yes for importing bank transactions, we can use the work-around of logging into the bank website, downloading the file, and then manually importing it into QB. But at some banks, this is only available as a PAID service, or as part of a suite of services - not all of my clients pay for this service, so that isn't an option for them.
What cosmitty is asking is whether there is a similar workaround for bill pay which would allow you to export the bill pay file from QB to a file you could then manually upload to your bank.
I don't know of one, although you certainly would be able to process all of your bill payments on the bank website, then if you have the download option available , download the web connect file and add them in QB from the bank feed. But that rather defeats the purpose of the desktop software. Basically, cosmitty , your bill pay process just became double the amount of work it was before. You might try ignoring the bank site warning and see if it will allow you to proceed without an approved browser, but I'm willing to bet it won't.
This is amazing to see a total lack of concern by Intuit on this issue. I understand how challenging it can be to make changes to the core product. However, creating these security issues and NOT removing barriers for customers to use a product that has been paid for is simply unbelievable. Adding to this users frustration is all of the features to update and spend even more money with Intuit. You can't navigate anywhere in the software without bumping into a monetized request.
This is the utmost in laziness on the part of Intuit. The price of the software goes up quite a bit every year, but they can't update a decade-old browser that NOBODY supports anymore as it is completely unsafe.
I am actively changing accounting software for both of my business because of this reason, and a few others much like it. BTW, your little workaround doesn't work. The whole point is that we can't connect with the institution to download the QBO file through Qb. Thanks for speaking up for all the frustrated accountants and bookkeepers. As of now, changing the default browser isn't possible. For your reference about the process, I suggest checking this article: Import Web Connect.
Once you downloaded your bank transactions, review and categorize them to ensure your books are accurate. If I can be of any additional assistance, please don't hesitate to share your concerns or questions. BankFeeds does not work either. I just downloaded and installed I am disappointed to say the very least. The responses here by the QB Team calls into question the entire cryptosecurity of the Desktop program.
If Intuit doesn't seem to be aware of the financial industry abandoning IE11 for Edge and other browsers, how could they be aware of other know threats? I have to reconsider whether I continue to use QB. I've already had questions due to problems with other features.
If Intuit doesn't seem to be aware of the financial industry replacing IE11 with Edge et al, how could they be aware of other know cyber threats?
